198 more Indian nationals have been repatriated from Maldives.

The group departed Malé City on Sunday evening, via Indian navy ship INS Airavat, and is headed to Tuticorin.

“Operation Samudra Setu” began in May, and is part of the Indian government’s biggest ever repatriation exercise amid the coronavirus pandemic, to evacuate stranded Indians from various parts of the world.

With INS Airavat, there have been five evacuation voyages from the Maldives.

The Indian government is also evacuating stranded citizens via chartered flights. As such, two group of Indians nationals -a total of 339- were repatriated via IndiGO Airline flights on Saturday.

Over 2,500 Indians have been repatriated from the Maldives following the Covid-19 pandemic.
