Authorities have stopped using Fun Island Resort as a quarantine facility.
Joining the nightly press briefing at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Thursday night, the task force’s spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that they have stopped using the resort island as a quarantine facility.
With this, the country’s quarantine capacity has dropped to 2,531 beds and there are 438 in transit quarantine currently, said Mabrook.
Fun Island Resort was transformed into a quarantine facility during March.
Further, authorities have placed 215 individuals identified through contact tracing, in quarantine. 191 individuals were released from quarantine facilities on Thursday upon testing negative for Covid-19.
On Thursday, authorities collected samples for Covid-19 testing, from 112 individuals.
Authorities have established quarantine facilities across the nation, totaling over 600 across different atolls.
Maldives Covid-19 case count currently sits at 2,137 out of which 1,759 have recovered.
There are currently 368 active cases in the country which has seen eight Covid-19 related deaths thus far.
