There are only 414 active Covid-19 cases in the Maldives currently.

While the country has confirmed a total of 2,094 cases thus far, 29 new cases were reported on Tuesday. The new cases include one local, 15 Bangladeshis, nine Nepalese nationals, two Indians, as well as one Filipino while the nationality of one individual (Case 2071) is “not available”.

Further, 130 additional patients have recovered from the virus, pushing the total recoveries to 1,670. As per the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 Dashboard, the country’s recovery rate in nearly 80 percent.

Maldives’ mortality rate is at 0.38 percent with eight Covid-19 related deaths reported thus far. There are currently 347 people in isolation facilities, and 331 under quarantine.

While the city was placed under lockdown almost immediately, authorities are now in phase two of lockdown easing and international flights are expected to restart in July.
