The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC)’s Technical Advisory Group (TAG) has revealed that arrivals into the Maldives and those travelling to inhabited islands from Malé City will need to complete a 14-day quarantine period at home.
After the home-quarantine period, they will be required to undergo Polymerase Chain Reactions (PCR) testing for Covid-19, said TAG.
This comes at a time the Health Protection Agency (HPA) brought a number of changes to the protocols being followed for home quarantine on separate occasions.
The last change was to quarantine individuals for 24 days and release them without testing.
However, the task force’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed during Sunday’s press conference that TAG has decided to shorten the period to 14 days after which PCR testing will be carried out.
These individuals will only be released once they test negative for Covid-19.
Mabrook stated that they predict samples will be collected on the 15th day and test results will come through on the 18th day.
According to HPA protocols on home quarantine, individuals under home quarantine are not allowed to go outside within the quarantine period and they are required to be isolated in a separate room from other members of the household.
