MET issues white alert from Gaaf Alif to Addu City
 
A few heavy showers are expected in the south
 
Heavy rain showers and thunderstorms with winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour are expected over the region
 
The advisory is effective from 8:15am to 1:15pm

The Maldives Meteorological Department (MET) has issued a white alert over regions expected to experience adverse weather conditions.

The white alert was issued from Gaaf Alif atoll to Addu City, after the department predicted heavy rain showers and thunderstorms with winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour over the regions.

MET revealed that the advisory is effective from 8:15am to 1:15pm.

The general weather forecast until 8pm Monday, predicts scattered rain showers with isolated thunderstorms across the country.

Showers are expected to be heavy at times, in the south.

Surface winds will be from west to northwesterly at 10 – 20 miles per hour and may gust up to 45 miles per hour during showers.

All are advised to be cautious as seas are expected to be moderate becoming rough during showers.
