The State Electric Company (STELCO) has revealed its decision to resume assessment of meter readings to prepare bills for June, through household visits, from Wednesday onward.
This is followed by the implementation of the lockdown ease plan, said the company in a statement released on Wednesday.
STELCO had been preparing bills for the past two months after customers sent images of their meters via a web portal, in order to ensure the safety of both customers and employees during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
The company revealed that they had identified customer struggles in sending meter images to the portal as they had requested.
As such, STELCO prepared average bills for customers that were not able to send meter images for the past two months, after evaluating the bills of previous months and considering the current electricity usage.
However, the company will be resuming assessment through household visits to take the meter reading for the ongoing month, as the lockdown ease plan is in effect.
STELCO noted that they will be continuing to prepare bills through images of meter readings through its web portal for households that are harder to assess by their team. These households will be notified via SMS to continue sending meter images.
