Authorities are to release Covid-19 patients without testing, at least three days after their symptoms disappear.
Dr. Nazla Musthafa revealed this during Saturday night’s press briefing, adding that thus far, authorities have been releasing Covid-19 patients only after they test negative to the virus through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing.
However, the doctor revealed that PCR test results show positive results for a long period of time and that latest findings indicates that positive PCR test results do not indicate that the virus can be contracted to others through the patient.
In this regard, Dr. Nazla revealed that patients will be released within a minimum of three days after their symptoms disappear, while individuals are required to undergo a quarantine period of 14 days once they exhibit symptoms.
However, this will only be followed for individuals with normal flu symptoms.
Those who are admitted at the hospital for severe symptoms will be required to undergo 21 days and they will only be released after a minimum of three days, upon full recovery.
Highlighting that PCR testing has currently been halted following this decision, Dr. Nazla added that individuals who have weaker immunity and take strong medications will have to undergo testing.
In addition, the doctor revealed that authorities are following the global protocols and recommendations by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the treatment for Covid-19.
