A 38-year-old Covid-19 patient has passed away in the Maldives.

This was revealed by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Saturday via Twitter.

The deceased is a 38-year-old Bangladeshi national.

The Covid-19 patient was taken to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), in "critical condition", revealed the HPA, adding that the patient died a little past 9am on Saturday morning.

This is the eighth Covid-19 related death in the Maldives. Three Bangladeshi nationals succumbed to the virus previously, as well as four locals.
