The Ministry of Tourism has opened registration opportunity for resort employees stranded in the Maldives capital, Malé City, who wish to return to their respective islands.
The ministry revealed this via a press release on Friday night, stating that the additional opportunity comes for resort employees who got stranded in the capital city due to the lockdown declared across the Greater Malé Region following a community transmission of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the capital.
The opportunity is open till 2pm on June 1 and resort employees have been sought to register through SMS to the ministry’s hotline 7223131.

The authorities earlier revealed that individuals stranded in the capital who wish to return will be given the opportunity and they will be required to complete a 14-day quarantine period at a transit facility. They will only be allowed to return to their islands after completing the quarantine period and being tested for the Covid-19 virus.
