The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a white alert from Haa Alif atoll to Alif Alif atoll.
The alert is effective from 4am to 9am.
Heavy rain showers and thunderstorms with winds gusting up to 45 miles per hour are expected over these regions during this period.
Generally, MET predicts a scatter of rain showers over the country, with isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms over the north and central atolls.
Southern atolls are also expected to experience a few rain showers.
Seas are expected to be slight to moderate during showers in the south and moderate becoming rough during showers over the rest of the country.
The department predicted that winds will gust up to 40 miles per hour during showers, south to southwesterly at 5 – 15 miles per hour in the south and southwest to westerly at 10 – 20 miles per hour throughout the rest of the country.
