Customs destroy pork, alcohol and cigarettes in large quantities
71 packets of pork were disposed
59 bottles of alcohol were also destroyed
This was done under section 412 of the Customs General Regulation

Maldives Customs Service has destroyed large quantities of alcohol, cigarettes and pork under their custody.

Customs revealed via Twitter that bottles of alcohol, cigarettes and pork confiscated throughout several cases were destroyed in Thilafushi site, Kaafu atoll in the presence of media and customs officials on May 18.

Destroyed were 71 packets of pork, 59 bottles of alcohol and 10,000 cigarettes.

The items was destroyed under section 412 of the Customs General Regulation which states that “restricted goods that have been imported in contravention to the regulations set by the related government authority shall be disposed off as determined by the said authority”.
