Kunahandhoo council VP had said that the residents "cannot even get a Panadol pill"

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has denied claims of lack of personal protective equipment in Kunahandhoo island of Laamu atoll.

While the Kunahandhoo council had, during an interview on RaajjeTV’s Covid-19 coverage, said that the island’s health center does not have any personal protective equipment, NEOC’s spokesperson denied this at Saturday night’s press briefing.

Noting that he had seen such media reports, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz said that he had inquired on what is in stock at the Kunahandhoo health center.

He said that the center has 150 masks, 1000 gloves, three personal protective equipment kits and 17 sanitizer bottles.

During the interview on RaajjeTV, the island council VP had expressed concern over the healthcare capacity on the island saying that the residents “cannot even get a Panadol pill”.
