Covid-19 situation in Maldives
Over twenty nurses from IGMH in isolation
Samples have been taken for Covid-19 testing
They will remain in isolation until results are back
A pregnant woman admitted at the hospital tested positive for coronavirus

Twenty-one nurses at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) are in isolation.

This was revealed at Monday night’s press briefing at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).

While spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz disclosed that 21 nurses at the state-run hospital have been isolated, he did not specify the department they worked in. However, some nurses have been under isolation after a pregnant woman admitted at IGMH tested positive for Covid-19.

Their samples have been taken for Covid-19 testing, and the nurses will remain in isolation until results are back.

Authorities have continuously express concern over the lack of healthcare professionals amid the ongoing pandemic. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had, during a national address earlier this month, appealed to retired healthcare workers to join the response efforts, stressing that the country “needs” their service.
