Hackers claiming to be part hacktivist group "Anonymous", hacked into the Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s website and left a warning to the government.
The hackers left a video clip on the website, criticizing the government’s precautionary measures implemented against the Covid-19 pandemic and accused the incumbent administration of no longer being “free to make decisions based on what is right for its people”.
A masked individual is seen in the heavily edited video, speaking in English, declaring that the nation and its citizens shall “no longer standby” from the biggest threat ever faced, “not only due to the coronavirus”.
The video highlighted that all intelligence finding and research points to the conclusion that the government is no longer free to make their own decisions, stressing that the government of India has “taken charge” of this country.
They have paid most of the politicians and parliaments and have nothing for their own people “since day one"
The anonymous voice is also heard accusing the government’s elections pledges being “blatant lies” and having “betrayed” the nation.
Citizens are desperate as 99% have lost their incomes and are unable to pay their rents. They soon face to be cast out on the streets with no food.
A threatening message for President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, warning to “attack your networks intrude your privacy, leak your confidential documents. These attacks will continue as long as we see no change to your plans”.
The hackers demanded “real change” and stated that they will resist to the point government networks and financial infrastructure will be “crippled and your staff turned to pen and paper”.
Simple demands such as standing up for what is right, provide relief for the people as well as free internet and end the suffering of the people by lowering rents and utility bills were mentioned. The government has been warned to end oppressive foreign policies as well.
You have been owned, you have been warned, you will be owned. We are anonymous, we are the 99%, we are legion, we do not forgive, we do not forget, expect us.”Tagline used by hacktivist group Anonymous![]()
