Residents of Fuvahmulah City have been prohibited from going out unless for essential needs.

The City Council revealed that they have implemented several measures under powers vested to the council under the public health protection act, at a time the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic is spreading swiftly in the country.

As such, the council has closed down “Naibuthuthu Magu” from 4pm to 12am every day until further notice. This will be in effect from Saturday onward.

Those who have the required permit from authorities will be allowed to use the road.

Further, residents have also been urged to avoid gatherings of more than three individuals when they go out for essential needs. Fines will be imposed on those who violate these procedures, added the council.

The council has urged all residents to adhere to these regulations despite having to face difficulties due to these measures.

These measures have been take for the greater good of the people, noted the council.
