28 Covid-19 patients are to be moved to Malahini Kuda Bandos, from Farukolhufushi isolation facility.

This was announced at Friday night’s Covid-19 press conference at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).

The taskforce’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz said that the 28 are being moved due to a technical issue at the facility. There is a water leak issue at two wards at the facility.

While this has issue had raised concern from the patients there as well as the public, Mabrook on Friday said that 28 patients are being moved and added those being transferred are all “stable”.

He further said that 19 patients will remain at a ward with no such issues at the Farukolhufushi facility, adding that this is because they require additional monitoring.

Mabrook also noted that the two wards with the issue “are being fixed”, and that the facility will be used again after this.

Farukolhufushi is one of the first Covid-19 isolation facilities established in the country; the state had spent MVR 7.3 million on the facility.

Those being isolated there include high risk contacts of confirmed Covid-19 patients, as in those that require additional monitoring after exhibiting symptoms.

There are over 16 quarantine facilities established across the country, and the ones in north were recently activated as well following confirmed cases from some islands in the area.
