Tree Top Hospital (TTH) has signed an agreement with the Maldivian government, to support the national Covid-19 response efforts.
The agreement signed on April 26 is with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and offers to provide the hospital’s services and facilities to the government.
While NDMA is to have notified the hospital of the need to use its services and facilities from Sunday, TTH said that they will no longer be able to serve the general public due to this.
As such, the hospital will only be providing treatment to Covid-19 patients referred from Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital from Sunday and their “in-patients will be transferred to and provided treatment at IGMH”.
While TTH is to close its only remaining open doors – the ER – on Saturday, it will continue to provide limited ER Clinic services for existing and new patients “elsewhere in Hulhumalé” from Sunday.
As such, the government has provided the exclusive use of the new Ophthalmology Building at the Hulhumalé Hospital to TTH, on a temporary basis.
This is “until TTH reopens its doors to the general public in about 90 days, after the last Covid-19 patients have recovered and are discharged”.
TTH consultants will provide outpatient consultations in this new ER Clinic from 9:30am to 3pm and 8pm to 11pm during Ramadan, and by telemedicine.
