Dockworkers are required for the cargo clearance process, reveals the Managing Director of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Shahid Ali.
MPL officials joined the routinely press briefing at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Friday afternoon, where they provided the latest updates of their work.
As such, Shahid noted that it is mandatory for the dockworkers to go in for the clearance process in order to load and unload goods, adding that the process will face difficulties if dockworkers do not come in.
Shahid went on to detail the process that is followed by the MPL staff and dockworkers, which pays special attention to social distancing practices.
Every morning, dockworkers are screened at the entrance and MPL is now working to provide special permits for them, however, identified contacts will be eliminated from the list, said Shahid.
He added that MPL work is carried out under extensive planning and that they have been implementing all the required.
