The first Vice President of President Abdullah Yameen’s administration, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, says that impeachment process must be started on President Yameen.
His tweet came following the loss of Parliament majority for President Yameen, after high-profile defections from the Party.
In his tweet, Dr. Jameel said that with the change in the Parliament, impeachment process must be started on President Yameen for the sake and stability of the nation.
Dr. Jameel, who himself faced a no confidence vote, said if the Vice President was removed in that matter, then the same should apply to the President as well.
He also questioned whether President Yameen intended to harness the power of judiciary to stay in power, even after the obvious loss of majority.
In addition to Dr. Jameel, other political figures had criticized the Government’s blatant attempts to remain in power.
