The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has revealed that samples taken from the elders who died in Thinadhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll tested negative for Covid-19.
On April 28, an 87-year-old died in the island and two days later, a 78-year-old died while receiving treatment at Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital as well.
Speaking at the routinely press conference on Thursday night, the task force’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that both individuals tested negative to the disease.
The 87 year old was admitted at the hospital on April 28 after exhibiting symptoms of severe acute respiratory infection and the elder’s samples were collected under the instructions of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
