Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and his counterpart from Kuwait, Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohamed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, have discussed the various challenges faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Maldives foreign ministry, the two held telephone conversation on Thursday.
The minister discussed “the pressing challenges faced during this time”, and Shahid “applauded the proactive effort of the government and the health sector of Kuwait towards combatting the spread of the Covid-19 virus and its immediate and long-term effects.”
The ministry said that ministers had also “explored areas in which the two countries could collaborate in order to minimize the social and economic implications” of the ongoing pandemic.
Foreign Minister Shahid also thanked his Kuwaiti counterpart, “for the generous assistance and support that Kuwait continuously accorded to the Maldives”.
He did the same in a tweet sent out afterwards, adding that he looked “forward to further strengthen future cooperation”.
