There are currently five patients hospitalized with Covid-19 in the Maldives.

This was revealed at an emergency press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) at around 1:45am on Thursday.

Speaking there, Dr. Moosa Hussain said revealed that three out of the five individuals are at higher risk for developing serious complications due to other comorbidities, and that they are being given oxygen support.

Dr. Moosa said that those admitted currently are an 80-year-old, a 70-year-old, two 40-year-olds and a 68-year-old.

While the 80-yo man was admitted at DH11 at Dharumavantha Hospital shortly after testing positive for Covid-19 on April 21, the doctor said that he was given oxygen support due to lower readings. At a press conference earlier, on Wednesday, authorities had revealed that the patients condition had worsened.

Dr. Moosa added that the 70-yo was shifted to the floor following complications, on Wednesday night.

Authorities had previously revealed that a Pakistani national was receiving oxygen therapy at the hospital.

Dr. Moosa emphasized that none of the patients require ventilation thus far.
