130 police officers are currently under quarantine.
Covid-19 taskforce’s spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed this during Tuesday night's press conference at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).
Noting that individuals identified through contact tracing procedures are placed under quarantine, Mabrook said that as such 130 police officers are currently in quarantine in relation to different confirmed Covid-19 cases.
While he said this, five officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MDNF) have tested positive for Covid-19 while in the line of duty. Speaking at a press conference earlier this week, Colonel Hussain Ali had stated that a number of officers are under isolation due to this, but did not disclose an exact number.
Further, Tourism Minister Ali Waheed had said that over 600 police and MNDF officers are working on the frontlines in Covid-19 combat efforts.
