The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has issued the funds it promised earlier for clubs competing in the first division.
A total of eight clubs will receive the funds – acquired from various corporations – for which it will sign an agreement on Sunday.
Lots were drawn earlier this month to decide which clubs would represent which corporation.
Island Aviation is to be represented by New Radiant Sports Club, last year’s league champion Maziya will represent the state-owned Maldives Tourism Development Corporation.
The Maldives Water and Sewerage Corporation (MWSC) will be represented by Club Eagles and Victory will represent Maldive Gas.
T.C. Sports Club, which won the Sheikh Kamal Cup in Bangladesh earlier this year will represent Maldives Airports Company while Valencia is to represent Fuel Supply Maldives. United Victory has been sponsored by Housing Development Corporation, and the Green Street Club – which premiered this year – will represent Maldivian.
Clubs that pass the qualifiers for the Dhivehi Premier League will receive MVR 3 million, while clubs that do not will receive a million less.
FAM has also decided to arrange MVR 1.5 million for clubs from the outer lying atolls.
