A fire incident was reported from the cargo boat transporting onions and eggs to the Maldives from India.
The fire is to have originated from the engine of the boat.
According to Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), the fire on "MV VB Progress" was reported on Friday night 00:30 to the Coast Guard.
They state that the boat was travelling via the archipelagic waters of Maldives and had 11 crew members on board.
The fire has since been extinguished by crew members, who also repaired the engine, said authorities, adding that the cargo boat is currently en route to the Maldives.
Authorities estimate the boat will dock in the Maldives at approximately 03:00 pm of Saturday evening and assured that no one was hurt in the incident.
