One island and resort under monitoring status

Constance Moofushi resort and Keyodhoo island of Vaavu atoll are under monitoring status, says spokesperson for the government's Covid-19 taskforce Mohamed Mabrook Aziz.

Mabrook revealed that a samples were taken from a symptomatic Maldivian from Keyodhoo island as well as a symptomatic Maldivian and foreign national from Constance Moofushi resort, following which both the island and resort have been put under monitoring status while results are pending. On the other hand, the monitoring status imposed on the cargo vessel VSG Gloria has been lifted.

He also stated that 1288 samples have been collected, from which only one is pending results whereas the remaining 1261 samples tested negative.

Further, there are a total of 18 people at isolation facilities while 880 people are under quarantine, said Mabrook.

Moreover, Mabrook stated that Furaveri Resort has also been declared a quarantine facility.

In regard to the curfew declared on the Greater Male' region that was out into effect today, Mabrook stated that the current timings may be extended if required.

Moreover, he highlighted the queues outside banks that was observed today. According to Bank of Maldives (BML), most of those customers could have been attended to via online banking and thus, has urged customers to choose internet banking more often, said Mabrook. Furthermore, consumers are urged to select delivery services.

Thus far, the Maldives has recorded a total number of 19 confirmed Covid-19 cases out of which six cases are active and 13 have recovered. Four of the active cases are Maldivian nationals whereas the remaining two are Italians whose test results returned after they had departed the country. Dr. Moosa Murad - during today's press conference - confirmed that the condition of the four Maldivians receiving treatment is still stable.
