Medicine shipment from India expected to arrive on Thursday
There has been a delay in transporting the medicine due to the lockdown declared in India

The medicine shipment stuck in India is to arrive in the Maldives on Thursday.
While there has been a delay in transporting the medicine due to the lockdown declared in the neighboring nation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Maldives National Defence Force and the Indian army are collaborating in the transport efforts.
As such, the medicine is to be collected from the cities -New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Madurai- on Wednesday. The shipment will be transported to Maldives on Thursday, via an Indian Air Force flight.
The medicine shipment was ordered by the State Trading Organisation (STO).
Communications’ Director at the ministry, Miuvan Mohamed told RaajjeMV that Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid had a telephone conversation with Minister of External Affairs of India Dr S Jaishankar last week, to ensure that there are no issues in these items reaching the Maldives.
The Indian external affairs minister is to also have assured continued supply of essentials to the Maldives, despite the measures imposed by the country.
A three-month supply of medicines used for the treatment of Covid-19 was donated by India on March 14th. A shipment of staple foods from India arrived in Male' City on Saturday with more shipments set to arrive in the near future.
