Two nurses and one doctor from Addu City have been placed under home-quarantine.
Speaking at the National Emergency Operation Centre's (NEOC) press briefing on Sunday afternoon, spokesperson for the government's Covid-19 taskforce Mohamed Mabrook Aziz stated that an individual who had returned from Cochin, India had gone to Addu Equatorial Hospital due to Covid-19 like symptoms.
Highlighting that the doctor and two nurses that attended to the individual were not wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), Mabrook stated that the healthcare workers have been placed under home-quarantine until test results of the suspected Covid-19 case return.
While the Maldives has recorded a total of 17 confirmed Covid-19 cases, 11 patients have since recovered whilst 4 are undergoing treatment. Two of the confirmed cases were discovered after they had departed for their native country - Italy.
A total of 908 samples have been tested thus far.
Hurawalhi Island Resort has been placed under monitoring status after samples were taken from a suspected case. As such, temporary monitoring measures enacted on Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives Resort, Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives, JA Manafaru Maldives Resort and Maahaa Safari have been lifted after samples taken from suspected cases tested negative.
There is a total of 860 people in various quarantine facilities while 20 people have been placed in Velidhoo isolation facility. Royal Island Resort has the most number of people with 149 under quarantine, followed by Holiday Island Resort and Emboodhoo Island Resort.
