Authorities have revealed that two Italian nationals who departed from the Maldives have tested positive to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Speaking to press on Friday afternoon, Minister of Health, Abdulla Ameen stated that authorities received information of the two Italian nationals tested positive after returning to Italy from Maldives.
They are to have completed the required quarantine period in Maldives before returning.
Highlighting that such cases are possible, the minister went on to encourage social distancing.
Thus far, there have been 14 confirmed cases in the Maldives, the latest one being reported on Friday, from a Maldivian.
The cases are five from Kuredu Island Resort and two each from Sandies Bathala Maldives, Kuramathi, Anantara Dhigu and Island Safari 1 as well as the Maldivian who returned from the United Kingdom who is under quarantine at Holiday Island Resort.
