Cinnamon Velifushi Resort, Vaavu atoll

An employee of Cinnamon Velifushi Resort has been arrested for threatening self-harm to leave the island.

According to authorities, an employee of Cinnamon Velifushi Resort threatened to self-harm if denied medical clearance to leave the island on 26th March.

As such, the staff member was detained that same day under a court order, said police.

Arrested is a 33-year-old Maldivian man.

The case is undergoing further investigation.
