The Maldives has decided to quarantine all arrivals into the country with the exception of tourists checking-in to resorts.
According to a notice issued by the Director-General of Public Health, Maimoona Aboobakuru, all passengers arriving in the Maldives via air route will be quarantined for a 14-day period at a facility chosen by the government. Further, the notice read that this does not apply to tourists checking-in at Maldives' resorts.
The statement further reads that the directive will take effect from 04:0 pm of 21st March 2020 onwards.
Earlier, HPA had stated that all Maldivians who return from the US will be subject to a 14-day quarantine whereas Maldivians who arrive from all countries exempt from the temporary travel restrictions imposed by the government of Maldives, will be placed under home-quarantine for a 14-day period as well.
All state institutions and relevant stakeholders are to follow through with the order, and the public has been urged to adhere to the instructions and regulations that is expected to follow with this announcement, and obey the orders imposed by the government.
