Samples taken from eight individuals have tested negative to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
This was revealed via a press conference on Wednesday night, where government’s spokesperson for all things Covid-19, Mabrook Aziz stated that this includes samples taken from different regions of the country.
As such, those who tested negative to the disease include;
1. A contact of patient zero from Kuredu Island Resort, the individual still has slight flu-symptoms after the 14-day period was up,
2. One Maldivian from Malé who is to have travelled to Bangalore, India,
3. Two individuals from Gili Lankanfushi,
4. One expatriate from Anantara Kihavah,
5. One individual from My Sky Yacht, and
6. Two samples from Furaveri Island Resort.
In addition, 121 samples taken from the Flu Clinic established in capital city Malé up until 18 March, have also tested negative to the fatal virus.
Following these results, the monitoring measures imposed on Gili Lankanfushi are being lifted.
Mabrook went on to reveal that the results of samples taken from RIU Hotel in Dhaalu atoll are still pending,
It was also revealed that results of samples taken from Fainu island in Raa atoll, Ukulhas island in Alif Alif atoll, Hithadhoo district of southernmost Addu City, Hinnavaru island in Lhaviyani atoll and Kudahuvadhoo island in Dhaalu atoll are also pending, as the results were received on Wednesday morning.
Island Safari 1 is still under monitoring and needs disinfection after the crew on board has been isolated, said the spokesperson.
