In a statement released on Tuesday night, the Ambassador of Maldives to Thailand Mohamed Jinah highlighted the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and urged all Maldivians residing in or travelling to Thailand against all non-essential travel.

Noting the importance of following the recommended public health protocols, he further appealed for all Maldivians to follow advisories issued by the Thai authorities.

While the Maldives has not placed any travel restrictions on Thailand, the country has imposed arrival bans on passengers with a travel history to China, Iran, North and South Gyeongsang Province of South Korea, Italy, Spain, Île-de-France and Grand Est of France, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg of Germany, Bangladesh, Malaysia and the United Kingdom, in the past 14 days.

This ban does not apply to Maldivian nationals or their spouses. However, they will be placed under quarantine for a period of 14-days, with the exception of arrivals from Bangladesh who will be placed under a 14-day home-isolation unless they show symptoms.
