A man has been arrested for attempting to smuggle large amounts of drugs into the country.
The man was caught attempting to smuggle drugs into Baa atoll Eydhafushi island during a joint operation between police intelligence and the island's local police station.
Following a tip-off to police intelligence, a 47-year-old Maldivian man was caught attempting to smuggle drugs into the island via a supply boat, said authorities.
The man was apprehended from the supply boat on the night of March 15th after police found three large rubber packets and 116 small rubber packets containing substances suspected to be drugs in his possession.
