An Indian doctor has been arrested from capital city Malé's suburban district, Hulhumalé, over accusations of assaulting a child.
The speech therapy specialist, 34, was arrested after the Maldives Police Service (MPS) received a complaint of the specialist assaulting a six-year-old boy close to 11pm on Thursday.
Police have found that the doctor was giving therapy for the child under private practice at the child’s home, and the police have also attained a video showing the doctor assaulting the child.
The incident is to have occurred on Wednesday and the doctor was taken into police custody under a court order late Thursday, for physically and mentally abusing the six-year-old.
Police continues to investigate the case.
