A Maldivian has been released from quarantine after testing negative for coronavirus.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the individual was released for home isolation.
The agency did not reveal any other details, including where the case originated from. At least three Maldivians were transferred to the isolation facility for testing after returning home on Wednesday; two from Italy and one from China.
Another local was taken into quarantine early Thursday morning, who started showing symptoms after returning from Malaysia around 150 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed so far.
The individual is to have “stayed in the same building as an individual positive” while in Malaysia.
While the number of confirmed cases has risen to eight since Saturday, they are all foreigners staying in resorts.
Authorities announced the decision to lift the restrictive measures on these resorts late Wednesday night, after being on lockdown following suspected cases.
They will be reopened with cordoned areas for individuals considered high-risk. While these individuals are to be isolated for the period mandated by authorities, and low-risk individuals are to be separated from this group.
