Two more people from Kuredu Island Resort in Lhaviyani atoll have tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

President’s Office's new Covid-19 spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz made the announcement during a press conference on Monday night.

This takes the total number of cases from the Maldives to six.

Four of the cases have been from Kuredu Island Resort. The other two are Italian tourists who were on holiday in Sandies Bathala Island Resort.

In a Tweet late Sunday night, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that two out of the three individuals tested for Covid-19 had turned positive from Sandies Bathala Island Resort, which is currently under lockdown.

Mabrook assured the public that stringent measures will be taken against those found negligent in the case, which led to the emergence of the infection in Maldives.

The government imposed travel restrictions on Sandies Bathala Resort and Kuredu Island Resort earlier.
