No Maldivians arrested for involvement in Sri Lanka's Easter Sunday Attack: MPS

However, MPS states that Srilankan authorities have not confirmed any arrests

Srilankan media - on Wednesday- reported that four Maldivians were arrested in connection to the terror attack

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has stated that no Maldivians have been arrested in connection to the 2019 Easter bombings in Srilanka that shook the neighbouring island nation.

While Srilankan media - on Wednesday- reported that four Maldivians were arrested in connection to the terror attack, SriLankan authorities confirmed that no Maldivians have been taken under police custody, revealed MPS.

Further, MPS stated that Sri Lankan authorities have not shared any information about Maldivians suspected of having involvement in the terror attacks either.

News of Maldivians having involvement in the Easter Sunday attacks emerged after Srilankan media reported Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajit Rohan to have stated that the suspects arrested in connection to the terror attack include four Maldivians.

While almost a year has passed since the Easter Sunday bombings devasted the neighbouring country, this is the first time Maldivians have been accused of having involvement in the terror attack.

Sri Lanka has a significant Maldivian community residing in the country.
