Queens BC has been crowned the champions of the 14th National Basketball League 2020 - Women's Division.
A total of five women's teams participated in this year's tournament. They are Queens BC, Elite Sports Club, T-Rex Sports Academy, Bench Sports Club and Lioness Sports.
Queens BC won the women's division championship with a total of 16 points after succeeding all eight matches. League runner-up team Elite scored a total of 14 points in the tournament, while Bench SC came in third place with 12 points.
The final match held on Wednesday at the Youth Center ended with Queens BC defeating Elite SC with a score of 82-45.
Queens was in the lead at the end of the first quarter with a score of 20-14. While Elite was able to score six additional points in the second quarter, Queens widened the score difference by scoring 14 points. Queens remained in the lead in the third quarter as well and the match ended with a score of 59-29.
In addition to crowning the women's division champion team, the top five players of the tournament were also awarded following Wednesday's final match. They are Queens BC's Aminath Israau Abdul Shukoor, Fathimath Shailan Afzal, Aishath Reema and Fathimath Rishma as well as Elite SC's Aminath Shiura Abdul Bari and Husna Mohamed of Bench SC.
While the women's division of the tournament concluded on Wednesday, the final match of the men's division is scheduled to be held on Thursday.
