A fire incident took place on the first floor of a home in Galolhu ward of the capital city, on Saturday night.
According to authorities, the fire at Preside, Galolhu ward was reported around 21:18 . The fire was caused by a short circuit in the household's distribution board and affected the household's washing machine with some clothes catching fire.
It was quickly extinguished by officers from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service (FRS).
A witness at the scene told RaajjeMV that the apartment was empty at the time the fire broke out. No injuries were reported.
While MNDF revealed that there were minor damages to household items in the fire, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that the family living there "was provided the required assistance immediately."
