A hearing of the criminal trial in the 2017 murder of a Bangladeshi national has been scheduled for Sunday.
A total of eight people have been charged over the murder. One defendant, Abu Kalam, has been levied with murder charges whereas the remaining seven have been charged with being an accomplice to murder.
All eight defendants are Bangladeshi nationals.
In previous hearings, the prosecution highlights that Abu Kalam took the lead in the killing and further notes that the victim was attacked and beheaded.
The hearing of the murder trial has been scheduled for 11:30 am of Sunday morning. The victim was 27-year-old Bangladeshi construction worker working at Laamu atoll, Fonadhoo named Mohamed Hassan’ullah.
He was murdered on 26th March 2017 and had reportedly been missing for two days before his body was found on the island's beach. His body was discovered by authorities at 12:45 pm on the afternoon of March 30th.
