President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has held discussions regarding the aid efforts by the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) in the Maldives.
On Thursday afternoon, the president met with the Director-General of OFID, Dr Abdul Hamid Al Khaleefa, at the President’s Office to discuss projects in the Maldives led by the organisation.
During the call, President Solih gave a warm reception to the OFID delegation and extended his gratitude for the continued support and assistance.
Discussions also touched on multiple aid efforts by OFID in the areas of water, sanitation and harbour development in the Maldives. Additionally, future collaborations in other sectors such as the development of a nation-wide transportation network were also discussed.
Highlighting the fact that the USD 50 million agreement between OFID and the state has expedited further infrastructural projects such as harbour, water and sanitation networks, the president thanked Dr Abdul Hamid Al Khaleefa for OFID’s contributions to the national development of the Maldives.
The meeting concluded with both parties reiterating their commitment to future collaboration between OFID and the Maldives.
