Kulhudhuffushi City will be developed as the economic hub of the region, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Speaking at the “Agenda 19 to islands” gathering held at Kulhudhuffushi City on Wednesday night, the president asserted that there are many projects marked by the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) for the progress of the newly declared city, alongside plans for progress for the entirety of Thiladhunmathi atoll.
As such, Solih said that work is currently underway to activate the government’s plan to develop Kulhudhuffushi as an economic hub.
Solih also declared that a new building will be opened for the tertiary hospital being developed in Kulhudhuffushi.
As such, while work is underway to construct a regional harbor in the area, the Kulhudhuffushi Tertiary Hospital will be developed to modern standards, said the president.
Stressing that there are several issues facing the city community regarding housing, Solih added that there are several unfinished housing units in the city as well as units that are yet to be built.
Shedding light on the importance of road development in the city, Solih added that funds have been allocated for road development projects in this year’s state budget.
Further, the president pledged to complete the unfinished housing units in the city and hand them over, as soon as possible.
