President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker of parliament, Mohamed Nasheed has arrived in Kulhudhuffushi City.

Both leaders departed for Kulhudhuffushi City to participate in the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s ongoing Thiladhunmathi atoll tour. The tour is part of MDP's campaign for the upcoming local council election.

They arrived at the city onboard the ferry, "Sea Queen", at 09:30 pm on Tuesday night where they received a very warm welcome from the city's residents.

On Wednesday morning, both leaders delivered a speech at the "Northern Conference" that began at 09:00 am, following which the leaders led the MDP delegation in the party's door-to-door campaign.

As such, MDP's campaign event at Kulhudhuffushi will be on Wednesday night at 09:00 pm. The delegation is set to leave the city the same night at 12:00 am.

While The 300-member delegation from MDP began its Thiladhunmathi atoll tour on Sunday, the president joined the delegation on its way to Vaikaradhoo island, Haa Dhaal atoll on Tuesday evening.

Kulhudhuffushi island in Haa Dhaal atoll is the first island to be declared a city by President Solih. The island's city status became official from January 1st onwards.
