Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested three individuals accused of illegally using and trafficking alcohol in capital city Malé.
Police revealed that a team of officers had arrived at a local restaurant in the capital at around 08:50am on Sunday after a tip-off that the individuals were using alcoholic beverages.
Officers found a large stash of bottles of suspected alcohol upon searching three bags the three men were carrying.
Arrested were a 34-year-old Maldivian, a 50-year-old Maldivian and a 38-year-old Sri Lankan national.
Police have since launched further investigations into the case.
