MPS announces decision to establish police performance board
The commissioner made the announcement while speaking at passing out ceremony of the 31st police recruit training course
The Police performance board will be independent of the police service
The board will monitor, evaluate and hold the Maldives Police Force "democratically accountable".

Commissioner of the Maldives Police Force (MPS), Mohamed Hameed, has announced the authority's decision to create a Police performance board, independent from the police service.

The commissioner made the announcement while speaking at passing out ceremony of the 31st police recruit training course on Thursday night. According to the commissioner, the Police performance board will be independent of the police service and will monitor, evaluate and hold the Maldives Police Force "democratically accountable".

As such, he revealed that a proposal regarding the board as well as a draft of the Police Service Bill will be presented to the state in the coming week.

While 91 out of 119 cadets of the 31st police recruit training course graduated last night, the graduates included 79 men and 12 women.

During the ceremony, the cadets performed gun drills in addition to a route march, a march past.
