Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has begun searching for a man who went missing on Monday.
Reported missing is the 37-year-old captain of a vessel carrying cargo goods that reportedly ran aground a patch of reef.
MNDF received the report at around 08:09am on Monday morning after the cargo-loaded vessel ran aground a patch of reef near Kagi, Kaafu atoll with three people onboard at the time.
Reports also have it that the man’s belonging; a phone and his bag were on the boat when he was reported missing.
The other two onboard the boat were expatriates, reported authorities.
A speedboat of the MNDF coastguard is currently active in the search for the missing Maldivian.
This comes at a time authorities are tirelessly searching for a 41-year-old Maldivian man missing after a dinghy collided into a speedboat near Dhonfanu island of Baa atoll on 2 January. Today marks the fifth day since he has been missing and authorities continue the search for him, using a diving robot and all resources within reach.
