Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Shidatha Shareef has denied allegations of corruption against her.
A complaint was lodged at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Maldives accusing the minister of using government resources while on holiday in Malaysia and of using the vehicle of the Maldives' embassy for personal errands.
In response, the minister stated via Facebook that the allegations against her are false, adding that this will be proven if fact-checked with the relevant authorities.
She also added that the incumbent administration vowed to provide freedom of speech and freedom of the press, evident by the opportunities provided by the state to lodge complaints and hold leaders accountable.
The complaint against minister Shidhatha was submitted on Tuesday. ACC revealed that the complaint alleges that the minister used government resources for personal gain, specifically of using state funds while on holiday in Malaysia and using the vehicle of the Maldives' embassy for personal errands.
