Ministry seeking contractors to develop indoor badminton courts in six islands

An international-standard badminton court was recently established in southernmost Addu City

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment is seeking contractors to develop indoor badminton courts in six islands.

The ministry announced this via a statement, revealing that they are seeking out a contractor to build indoor badminton courts up to international standard in Kulhudhuffushi island of Haa Dhaal atoll, Gan island of Laamu atoll, Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaalu atoll, Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll, Thinadhoo island of Gaaf Dhaalu atoll as well as Fuvahmulah City.

Speaking on the matter, Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof revealed that this is in line with the incumbent President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s vision to enhance the sport across Maldives.

While an international-standard badminton court was recently established in southernmost Addu City, the ministry stated that the courts in aforementioned six islands will also be developed in the same way.

This year’s the Under-21 Badminton Tournament of SAARC Member States was held at the Addu City Badminton Complex. Maldivian players are also seen bagging bronze medals and other accomplishments in the sport, through several international tournaments.
