Local football club, Maziya Sports and Recreation, has also expressed concern over the Youth Ministry’s fact-finding mission.
A tweet from the club’s official account on Thursday has them questioning the ‘purpose’ of the committee.
What is the real purpose of the fact finding committee? Mandate of the committee has changed overnight. Concerned about the purpose of this committee. Issues of FAM should be tackled according to FIFA/AFC statues, not as the Youth Minister pleases. @AhmedMahloof @bassam_jaleeI

Maziya is referring to a committee Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof announced to investigate and account for large sums of money that the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) had received.
Initially, Mahloof said that the committee would also investigate why Maldivian clubs were barred from competing in the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) competition, the AFC Cup.
Maldivian clubs have been barred from entering the AFC Cup for 2019, on the grounds that the FAM had failed to submit necessary documents.
However, Mahloof later said that the committee would only investigate financial matters, after the AFC reportedly sent a letter to the ministry expressing discontent over ‘third parties’ getting involved in matters between it and the FAM.
